I hope everyone enjoyed their break off. The students have learned over 120 signs in the past few weeks and I have run out of my "basics" I had planned. I think then that we should spend the next few sessions practicing. I will be introducing games to the students this week that will reinforce their new language skills. And next week the students will learn a song that they enjoyed watching this trimester.
I will upload the Bingo cards I made and any other games soon- sorry for getting behind on the posts this week, I'm not quite ready for vacation to be over :)
After school ASL (American Sign Language) class web page. I wanted to make a site that I could post the resources I've been using in class. Everything is made by me but some of the images are copy right and I post where I got them as often as I can.

Week 6- Foods and Thoughts (11-15, 17)
We will be working on a food theme this week- with special attention paid to Thanksgiving signs on Thursday.
Please remember to practice with your child. If the hand out stays in the car it can make a wonderful discussion starter in the morning drive to school or ride home from the grocery store. If you need another copy of anything it can be printed from this site or you can ask me after class :)

Feelings and Introduction to Questions (11-1, 3)
This week students will learn how to express their emotions as well as ask basic who, what, when, where and why questions.
In ASL the face is extremely important- almost more so than the sign it self. When your student is sharing their signs please ask them to practice showing the emotion on their face along with their hands.

Week 3- Animals and Days (10-25, 27)
This week we are focusing on not only the days of the week but also on animal signs. Students are also being tested by playing games such as "Telephone" as a sign memory game rather than auditory memory game.
Powerpoint:
The Pledge of Allegiance
The students are picking up the signs quickly so we went on to learn the pledge of allegiance. Students at C3PA say the pledge each morning and now the ones from this class will be able to sign it as well.
The power point is in pdf form but can still be viewed and saved by clicking on the following link.

Welcome and How To
Welcome Parents and Students!
I wanted to make a site that I could post the resources I've been using in class. Everything is made by me but some of the images are copy right and I post where I got them as often as I can.
When you are viewing a post there will be a quick introduction telling you what your student learned that day.
Then I will list links to the power point I used in class. By clicking on a link you will be taken to a Google Doc share page where the power point should show up. You can view it there on line or click on the Actions button and save it to your own computer.
The power point may be uploaded as a pdf file- which can still be viewed, saved and printed but you must click on the File button on the top, left of the screen instead. Like this:
Under the power point link I will try to post the hand out I sent home or an image of the hand out. By clicking on the image it should enlarge and then you can print it or save it.
On the first page of the powerpoints I have links to youtube videos of songs done in asl. I have shown most of them in class but if your student wants to see them again you can click on the link. I will have the links at the bottom of the day's post.
I will not post any specifying information about any student on this blog; but, I may give general reviews of how class went that day.
I hope this is helpful.
Thank you,
Miss Axworthy (Miss A.)
